David Cumming began his craft by restoring furniture, learning about the nature of furniture construction in the process. A well-rounded craftsman, David honed his skills through extensive work in the making of all types of furniture, electrical, plumbing, foundation, log-building, jewelry-making, sculpture, interior design and fine art. A long-time study of art, architecture and design has influenced his work, particularly the art of the Surrealists. He delights in exploring the principles of balance and stability and draws on his extensive expertise in a wide range of domestic and exotic woods. David's work can be found in Toronto, Peterborough, Barrie, Guelph, New York and Los Angeles. Born in Los Angeles, California, David's creations have been shown in galleries across North America including Prime Gallery in Toronto, The Tu Gallery in Edmonton and The Red Door Gallery in San Francisco.
